One year ago today, it was 9:50 p.m. and we were in bed. My husband looks at the clock, turns to me and says, "WHEN have we EVER been to bed before midnight on the night before Thanksgiving?" I smiled. I'm pretty sure never.
You see, I always felt like I had to do one more thing, stay up and make sure everything was perfect. But a year ago, I felt the impact of an AFT intention I had set earlier: "I complete my tasks, rest, and have fun." I had chosen this phrase without Thanksgiving in mind. I just wanted to address this common thread in my life of never feeling like I could take a break or that I had done enough at the end of the day. But here was tangible evidence that something had shifted through that AFT intention.
I like to tell people that story because it shows how AFT can help with anything. Tonight I'm up in my room before 10 p.m. I'm writing my blog post right now and the clock reads 10:11 p.m. I'll be in bed before midnight for sure with the lights out before 11. A friend texted me earlier in the day and asked me how I was doing, knowing that in the past I've carried quite a bit of stress in preparing for Thanksgiving Turkey Trot brunch and later dinner. I was honestly able to tell her that as the stressful moments arose, I just as quickly gave them a quick nod and let them go. I stayed peaceful, motivated, and productive all day long.
And now everything is completed for today, and in a few moments I'll get in bed to rest and tomorrow will have some fun. Some people wonder how many sessions of AFT do they have to do to see lasting change. They've heard of programs with strict protocols that require months of consistent use before they can experience a shift, but I tell them that most people I work with have immediate, permanent change after just a one hour session. Here I am a year later, I haven't worked that intention again since, and I'm still living out the freedom that I received. If this testimony seems somewhat insignificant, there is the one where my client hadn't driven in eight years and now drives with no problem or the client that was waking up daily remembering a very difficult memory who now wakes up in peace…after just one session.
Yes, the Aroma Freedom Technique is just that powerful.
This morning I felt led to pick my big bodacious goal back up as my affirmation, to maintain that tunnel focus and relentless forward motion that is required of me in this season. Yesterday that forward motion carried me through clearing out my closet and switching out seasons. I got overwhelmed and had a nagging voice telling me that maybe my time would be better spent another way.
But I hardly gave it a glance. My closet needed to be done, I was doing it for me, and everything else could wait. I felt a little anxious at times, that I might NOT get everything else done if I took care of me/my closet first. Ha! I did, though! I did get my closet organized, and this morning when I walked in, I felt the peace.
Here it is 10:21 p.m. and my closet AND all of the things for tomorrow are done.
And now to go stand in front of my mirror while I stand in my power pose, repeating my affirmation and breathing in my oils. Tonight I'm choosing Fulfill Your Destiny. It seems fitting.
May gratitude fill your hearts as you meditate on the goodness of the Lord surrounding you, filling you, and overflowing from you.
Here's a song for you. This speaks so much of the work God has been doing in my life. Love to you all!
